Inspired by the major port town, Calais derives its name from the Celtic term "Caletoi" meaning "the hard ones". Stark in its horizontal structure, Calais evokes images of carefully carved stone.
Cut from hard density cellulose acetate, a plant based material made from cotton and wood pulp. Each sheet is dried for 72 hours before it is shaped, so it takes a deep, high gloss polish and holds its form.
